drop-jawed

I usually don't like meals that are served in hospitals. Do you? To me they all look the same... tasteless!

But not the tray full of mouthwatering food and dessert (with lower cholesterol I hope) served to us daily at Bishop Regan's Memorial Hospital last week. My sister was in awe to have held the first tray we had (with beef ampalaya or bitter mellon, steamed veggies with butter, crispy chicken pops, rice that's roughly good for two with fresh fruit salad for dessert) and drop jawed she was like "are we sure we are in a hospital?"

"Well we are paying for a suite room accommodation and services so that's probably the reason why" was all I could say.

Our patient don't each much so there's always enough left for both of us. Imagine the savings we have had there.

Not all hospitals offer the same satisfactory service so thumbs up to BRMH for excellently serving us and for providing our needs.

Hello here...

Thanks to those who dropped by at naki-share on my yesterday's treat. Salamat naman at kahit papano nabusog ko kayo kakatingin...hahaha.

At may naging interesado pa on how to make kwek-kwek, lol! Actually I already have coached her earlier but to those who are still interested to learn, eto yun:

"Simply coat the hard boiled eggs with flour. Mix the flour with enough amount of water to make it a little sticky and the food color which is yellow. Food color is optional though since there are those who really don't want to use artificial colors. But like I said to Faye, mas mukha talaga siyang kwek-kwek if its yellow. After which, deep fry the coated eggs for about a minute or two...and that's it!

Finally to make it complete, you can prepare a sawsawan (sauce) of your choice. For me, it's best served with the mix of diced cucumber, seaweeds, onions, vinegar, a little amount of chili powder and salt to taste. For the kids naman, I recommend sweet and sour sauces na may konti din naman anghang... depende na lang sa kakain." (see kwek-kwek image on my post below)

Tayo naman kasi mga Pinoy, pagdating sa mga in between meals o meryenda, walang sinabi ang economic crisis ng bansa ... oopps..walang kokontra! hehe... Kaya to best compensate our pockets, let's go for food preparation that's economical yet healthy.....
Ayt!

(Sya... hanap-buhay na muna ako!)

My Cebu Expedition

February of this year when I first stepped the Queen City of the South, Cebu. Boarding Trans-Asia Shipping Lines, from Cagayan de Oro City wharf, we reached Cebu after 14 long hours - safe sea trip . That was a little spine-chilling yet a very exciting experience to me so far coz I've never been used to be traveling by myself. And yes, this time it's just me all alone. Although my sister together with my 6yr. old niece were hanging around waiting for me at the wharf where the vessel was supposed to dock.

After spending few hours roaming around the city, we took another 2 hour ride on a bus heading to MOALBOAL, the town where my sister and her family lives. Huhh! that was indeed a yawning trip. But....ah..ah..ah... wait 'till you reach the PANAGSAMA BEACH RESORT . The almost 2 days drudging and fatiguing trip falls off after seeing the fascinating scenes around. The beaches that are so inviting, the sunset, the floating bars and restaurants and a lot more. There you can see the people's simple way of living while they are being sorrounded with different foreign businesses such as bar and restaurants, disco houses, and resort cottages.

Though, it was only a weeklong vacation but I've seen a lot of beautiful sites that every Cebuanos are proud of, learned a lot from the simplicity of their people ,and most especially, I was able to spend perfect bonding experience with my two cute, lovable nieces with my sister, Thea whom I barely see in a year.

Another thing which I enjoyed most aside from the lovely beaches, invigorating environment and fresh seafoods was the Japanese Restobar that my sis and her husband, Rommel are successfully running and of course my ultimate hands- on experience of preparing some Japanese dishes...Here are few of those distinctive, mouthwatering foods that we personally made.

These are Yakiudon, Katsudon, Yakitori, Tempura Soba and Yassai Teppanyaki in random.

Now, I really can't wait to visit them again. I hope I can after I am fully recovered in few months time.
