Just the way it is...

It's my late father's birthday today. It has been 9 years since he passed away and he could have turned 62 already should he be around.

So like the usual we went to visit, lighted some candles, offered flowers and prayers for him earlier today. We've had lunch together after at home. Thanks God for the gift of memory and compassion. It has been 9 years but he is still remembered in exactly the same way as we did in the past.

Today also marks the 3rd year of this blog's custom domain - onlinememorylane.com. This was the very first and the only custom domain I bought through Google Apps - that's before I've learned about Godaddy.com where I bought all the rest of my domains.

I quite have issues remembering important dates like blog anniversaries. That's why buying custom domains is much easier for me when done during significant dates like birthdays or the country's official holidays like Labor Day, Philippine Independence Day, etc... So three years ago today, on my dad's birthday came also the dawn of Onlinememorylane.com [the former onlinememorylane.blogspot.com] in the blogosphere.

September 7, 2008 marks the day of this blog's custom domain [onlinememorylane.com] purchase via Google Checkout. It's been 2 years and still counting!

I received the Domain Registration Automatic Renewal Reminder around late last month in which of course I'm reminded to get the renewal payment done on the date they specified but since the fund is not available yet during that time, I had to disable the automatic renewal and opted to pay on its actual deadline which was 7th of September. Thankfully, my earnings from last month were able to cover it. Hay! How time flies so fast!

Even if this blog doesn't really give me much benefits (financially, that is), I still can't find in my heart to just let go off it. I can only think of the time and effort that I've poured out into this blog (for 3 years) each time I had to pay for its domain... those to me should already be reasons enough to keep and let the page going.

More to go for this mother blog of mine!

I just received a reminder from Google-Apps today for this blog's 2nd domain registration renewal which is due on the 24th. Whew! How time elapse so swiftly! It's gotta be another added year for www.onlinememorylane.com pretty soon. I hope I'll be able to beat its deadline and gather the amount needed to keep this domain working. Just the time and effort I have invested for this blog are reasons enough to keep it whether it is gaining or not. Although I admit, I've been wishing for a more productive mother blog since...
